Gracie Barra members from many different Schools are joining us at the competition classes. Its been a lot of fun and a great learning experience.

This morning we had almost 20 Gracie Barra Black Belts on the mats. Its amazing to watch them rolling!

Since great champions must keep on moving, UFC welterweight title holder Georges Saint-Pierre arrived in Brazil yesterday to refine his game. The Canadian will be making his first title defense, since recovering it from the hands of Matt Serra, against John Fitch, in August. To continue to put on a show in the octagon, St Pierre’s Jiu-Jitsu instructor in Canada, Bruno Molenga (Gracie Barra) sent his student to Barra da Tijuca on an exchange in the Gracie Barra home base. The champion will stay in Brazil until the 10th of June and until then will practice MMA and do his physical conditioning with the fighter Gustavo Ximu, and complete his Jiu-Jitsu routine at night.

GRACIEMAG.com contacted Ximu, who today took the champion to practice boxing at the Nobre Arte boxing academy and got ready to have a first roll with Saint-Pierre at GB.

“He came to work on his Jiu-Jitsu. He arrived yesterday and I took him to Nobre Arte today. The guy is really humble and good people, besides being a really good fighter. We had only one technical training session led by Claudio Coelho and he liked it a lot. The guys there at the academy couldn’t even believe their eyes, as everyone there is a fan. I was also under the impression he was bigger. Not that he’s small, but he weighs 84kg and on tv he looks bigger. I’m going to take him to practice boxing, wrestling and do physical conditioning with me to keep him active, but the main thing is Jiu-Jitsu,” said Ximu.

Gracie Barra UfC viewing party

We had a great time yesterday at the Gracie Barra UFC viewing party. It was nice to see members from different Gracie Barra Schools getting together as one big family. The fights were outstanding, Martini Blue’s was a great host and we would like to give special thanks to Professor Felipe Jerry and Assistant Instructor Jeff Weins for organizing this great event.

This is something we will do more often. These opportunities are something great to bring all the GB members even closer.

Memorial Day: Special Class/ Master Carlos Gracie Jr. is back in OC Memorial Day Special Class

Gracie Barra America will be opened at the memorial day. However, the schedule will change.

There will be no evening classes.

We will have an All Levels Class from 10am to 11am and a Live Training (Sparring Session) from 11am to 11:30 am

Master Carlos Gracie Jr. is back in OC

It was great to have Master Carlos Gracie Jr. back on the mats last night. He taught us some outstanding techniques at the Advanced Class.

Well deserved promotions/ Chip’s new born baby

Professor Marcio Feitosa got back from Brazil yesterday and came straight to the School. He rolled with all the students on the advanced class and sparring session.

After the training Professor graduated 2 students to the rank of brown belt 3 stripes.

Coming back from Brazil

Master Carlos Gracie Jr and Professor Marcio Feitosa are coming back from Brazil next Tuesday May 20th.

We will have such a great time next few weeks at Gracie Barra America. Begining with Carlos and Marcio back in OC, continuing with the 2008 World Jiu-Jitsu Championship coming up and bringing in visitors from all over the world to our School.

All that good stuff happening at our new Irvine facility with plenty of mat space for you guys to enjoy. Could not be better!

II GB San Clemente Beach Class

Sunday (May 25th) at 10am, GB Students from all over south California will gather at the San Clemente Beach for one more great workout session. This is part of the preparation of the Gracie Barra Team for the world tournament that will take place in Long Beach, CA on June 5th, 6th, and 7th. The class is opened for the community and will provide great training experience to all people, with or without Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) experience. Bring boardshorts, Rash Guards and your Gracie Barra Gi!!!

GB Solvang Invitational BJJ Tournament/ Professor Fabio Leopoldo’s Seminar in San Luis Obispo
GB Solvang Invitational BJJ Tournament

GB Solvang is honored to announce the 1st GB Solvang Invitational BJJ Tournament.

The tournament is one of many activities that will take place during the grand opening ceremony of out newest location in the Valley.

World class Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu lessons are now offered for the communities of Solvang, Santa Ynez, Buellton, Los Olivos, Lompoc and Santa Maria. Gracie Barra Solvang offers BJJ instruction for individuals, families, and Law Enforcement Officers.

Gracie Barra Solvang is being developed to become a reference of physical education, character development and self-defense.

The 1st GB Solvang Invitational BJJ Tournament is part of team Rodrigo Clark’s preparation for the upcoming Worlds Jiu-Jitsu Championship to be held in Los Angeles, and it’s open for all Gracie Barra students and invited schools.

During our grand opening event, we will present a Mixed Martial Arts exhibition, to be followed by our friendly BJJ competition. Gracie Barra Solvang will also be offering FREE Jiu-Jitsu group lessons for men, woman, and children at this event. During class instruction participants will learn basic BJJ techniques, such as: chokes, joint locks, throws, brake falls, escapes from dominant positions and control holds.

Free snack and drinks will be served. All Gracie Barra members, Jiu-Jitsu practitioners from invited schools, friends, family and anyone interested in check out our school are welcome!

As usual, after the ceremony we will close our activities offering a traditional Brazilian BBQ!!!

Training in Brazil

Professor Marcio Feitosa will spend 15 days training at the main Gracie Barra School in Rio de Janeiro. He will be back to Gracie Barra America on May 20 together with Master Carlos Gracie Jr.

Today - The new school grand opening!!!
