Master Carlos Gracie Jr. is a man ahead of his time. Son of Grand Carlos Gracie Sr., he has used his unique visionary skills to create two of the worlds largest and most important Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Organizations: the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) and Gracie Barra. As founder and current Chairman of both institutions, he has channeled his entrepreneurship to take our sport to the next level allowing thousands of individuals across the five continents to experience the ‘Gentle Art’ as students, instructors, or competitors.

As an instructor for more then 30 years, Master Gracie has produced more well known instructors and athletes. Master Gracie divides his time between the United States and Brazil and, despite his enormous responsibilities, still finds time to teach classes every day either at GB America or the GB main school in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Professor Marcio Feitosa is the head instructor of Gracie Barra America and of the GB main school in Brazil. With more then 15 years of teaching experience, he is a primary example of a man who is fully dedicating his life to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Gracie Barra and its members. Prof. Feitosa’s witty personality, enthusiasm, integrity, and leadership make the essence of GB America and touch all those around him. An outstanding competition background qualifies him as one of the best lightweight competitors on BJJ history. Gracie Barra America Flavio AlmeidaFlavio Almeida

2nd Degree Black Belt

Professor Flavio Almeida is a 2nd degree black belt and has been studying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Master Carlos Gracie Jr. for more than 15 years. His BJJ journey began at the age of 13, when he decided to go with his brother – Ricardo Almeida - for a trial class at the original Gracie Barra School, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Prof. Almeida has had the privilege of training with, and learning from, some of the best of Master Carlos Gracie Jr. students, like Master Renzo Gracie, Prof. Ricardo Almeida, and Prof. Marcio Feitosa. All of them played a key role on the development of his Jiu-Jitsu style.

Joao Sobrinho was born in the city of Belo Horizonte, Brazil, located about 300 miles from Rio de Janeiro. Joao started his training when he was 13 years old. He was introduced to Jiu-Jitsu when professor Marcio Feitosa came to his city to start a Gracie Barra academy.

Brazilian Jiu jitsu has been one of Joao’s biggest passions in life.  You can see evidence of this while watching him teach.  He has always enjoyed training, competing, and especially teaching.  He is a champion in his state and has placed in many tournaments.  He holds many records and has competed in countless tournaments. 

Joao has been teaching since he was awarded his purple belt and takes pride in helping others to achieve their goals through Jiu-Jitsu.  Joao is truly a rising star in the Gracie Barra family, and he is well respected and loved among his students at Gracie Barra Garden Grove.
